Healthy Smoothie & Snacks Made Easy

There is really no excuse to not eat healthy... I have often heard that eating healthy is difficult or hard to stay on top of.  I have also heard that it takes too much time, or too much focus, or too much of this-and-that.  Well, in a world full of sickness, disease, and Genetically Modified Organisms* (GMO), all it takes is to make right choices and make it delicious.

Choose to eat more fresh fruits & vegetables daily to replace processed foods and snacks that you would normally choose to eat.  The choice is to simply 'get it in' with no excuses... and one of the best ways to get it in is to make plant-based decisions... smoothies and/or snacks.  Now you're eating healthy.

Be Creative and Eat the Rainbow... or DRINK it!

*A genetically modified organism (GMO), also known as a transgenic organism, is any organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques.  GMOs are the source of genetically modified foods and are also widely used in scientific research and to produce goods other than food.

Ginger Margarita

4 Limes (ripe)
1 bunch Seedless Green grapes (30 -40)
1 inch fresh Ginger Root
No Salt needed for the rim

Put all ingredients in a juicer until pulp is dry.  Serve freshly juiced.
(Blender Method: peel limes, remove stems from grapes, and skin the ginger before blending)

Drink and enjoy a boost of vitamin C and antioxidants that refreshes as well as tingles the taste buds.  This beverage is great for cooler weather by keeping coughs and scratchy throats at bay. It also provides super antioxidants that can boost and help protect the immune system.

Lime Fruit
Lime is a term referring to a citrus fruit which is typically round, green, 3–6 centimetres in diameter, and containing sour pulp. The health benefits of lime include weight loss, skin care, good digestion, relief from constipation, eye care, and treatment of scurvy, piles, and peptic ulcer. Look for unblemished, firm limes that feel heavy for their size as they will be the juiciest. If you intend to use the zest, buy them un-waxed.

Grapes
Grapes are a type of vine grown fruit that grow in clusters of 15 to 300, and can be crimson, black, dark blue, yellow, green, orange and pink. "White" grapes are actually green in color, and are evolutionarily derived from the purple grape. Grapes can be eaten raw or they can be used for making wine, jam, juice, jelly, extract, raisins, vinegar, and more.

Ginger Plant
Ginger or ginger root is the rhizome of the plant Zingiber Officinale, consumed as a delicacy, medicine, or spice. It lends its name to its genus and family. Other notable members of this plant family are turmeric, cardamom, and galangal.

Dragon Blood
(Orange, Beet, Cucumber & Carrot)

This is a wonderful combination of fresh fruits and vegetables for those times when you are feeling somewhat unbalanced.  The mixture of macro and micro nutrients allows regeneration and body tissue refreshing on a cellular level.  Along with antioxidants, fiber and pure richness in flavor, this is one of the best ways to give your body a healthy treat while restoring needed minerals and vitamins.

I have once heard that if you can catch a dragon, and make it your friend, you will forever have a companion with warming benefits.  I know it sounds a bit silly, but this Dragon Blood combination is like taming a dragon for friendship.  Once you taste it, you will begin to absorb its warming benefits and lasting nutritional value that can be felt from head to toe.

Orange – packed with vitamin C which helps promote cellular regeneration and protection from free radicals.

Beets – Full of soluble fiber, vitamin A & folic acid.  All are beneficial to helping clean the blood and aids in digestion.

Cucumbers – Natures’ anti-inflammation power house.  Cucumbers are packed with micro nutrients to help the body rid itself of excess water and bloating.  It is also good as a relief of arthritis and joint pain.

Carrot – a great source of fiber, vitamin A and beta carotene.  Carrots promote healthy eyes, skin, hair and nails.

I would suggest that the carrot tops (greens) are also used in the juice as well as a garnish to maximize on its’ health benefits.  Drink More Blood “Dragon Blood”!
