Power in the Trinity

In Hollywood, there is a saying that the 'greats' pass away in threes, In dimensions there is a common symbol '3D' - third dimension - Height, Width and Depth.  Three Wise Monkeys - Hear no evil, See no evil, Speak no evil.  Third time's a charm.  With colors, there's RGB.  Mind, Body, and Soul (Spirit).  Earth. Wind. & Fire.  Mother, Father, Child.  Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.  Faith, Hope, and Charity.  etc...

*Three is the number of perfection, completion.
The Christian doctrine of the Trinity - GOD: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
1 Peter 1:7 (not to get all religious on ya')

Tried in the Fire before Gold

'Tried in the Fire before Gold 1'

Acrylic on Canvas
20" x 20"
A mere drop of innocence cast'd into the flesh of a human, only knowing instinct and basic needs.  This thing called life creates an unruly inferno of unorganized, unnatural heat and pressures that twists and turns sporadic elements of simplicity into a complex ball of confusion.

'Tried in the Fire before Gold 2'

Acrylic on Canvas
20" x 20"
A ball of confusion, slowly but steadily being molded and reformed into unexpected configurations, shapes, and patterns that are unrecognizable of ones former self.  Being challenged, abused, forced, used, coerced, tempted, and tired.  The experience of each and every trial created a pattern, a stripe, a unique mark as a reminder and reward of what challenges has been conquered and survived.

'Tried in the Fire before Gold 3'

Acrylic on Canvas
20" x 20"
Each mark and stripe is undeniably unique to the story in which is being told, simply by the mere existence of the purifying resistance in refining through fire.  Edges are sharpened where used to be round.  Rough places are now smooth. Lines are defined where used to be frayed.
Pure gold put in fire comes out of it proved pure.

*Real, pure gold, when exposed to the flame, will get brighter after a while as it gets hotter, but will not darken.  Fake gold pieces, such as fool's gold (actually pyrite, an iron sulfide) and pieces made of brass, iron or copper alloys will otherwise change color when exposed to fire.

Ingredients Of Me...

Integrity
...is doing the right thing even when no one is watching

Serenity
...comes when you stop expecting and start accepting

Humility
...the ability to give up pride and retain dignity

Respect
...is for those that deserve it, not demand it

Honesty
...has a power that very few people can handle

Love
...we accept the love we think we deserve

Imagination
...is the reality of the dreamer. it's the preview of life's coming attractions

Passion
...being fearless in the pursuit of what set your soul on fire

Natural
...embracing the beauty of the you that lives

Devotion
...is the product of being constantly attentive

Desire
...is what a creative man is motivated by to achieve

Stability
...comes when you trade expectations for acceptance

Thoughtful
...showing consideration for the needs of other people

Introvert
...a little isolation is good for the mind

Every speckle of universal dust, every bit of moisture in the air,
darkness and light blended equally to create the molecules that make me.
Ancestral dreams of perpetual perfection arise when I inhale and smiles of accomplishment when a pat on the back just won't do.  I hear my name being called in gentle whispers and gentle hugs in the wind.  I am full of goodness, wrapped in sun-kissed gold, and radiating the elements of me .
The elements of you.
The elements.

I See Clouds

I see clouds differently now
as I stop, observe, and exhale
every breath is meaningful now
as the stress and pain unveil

With a gentile blow in front of me
I see it all floating away
I look close-up to shapes I see
the formations of the day

the vivid colors are blinding
even if in black and white
they swirl around and winding
like the poetry I write

I feel calm after seeing them
dancing around in the sky
I take another dive into them
and bounce like I can fly

I see clouds differently now
Each have a different flavor
depending on how thick the cloud
It's how it affects my behavior

Different shapes and sizes
hiding the horizons...
-Chaka Khan

Lay back, look up and tell me what do you see.  Shapes will begin to form and change, then reshape over and over again as the wind move them to another part of the sky.  One moment it's something familiar.  Next it's abstract.  Hypnotizing, and mellow, the formations come and go.  Some so far away that it blends with the ski in a gradient of blue hues .  Floating in front and behind the moon.  Accenting the air with every sunrise.  I guess the sky would be really cold without the many blankets of clouds.

Cascades of Colour

(Musical Poetry that Paints in Color)

and at sunrise
and at sunset
but when night falls
but the music
and at sunrise
and at sunset
but when night falls
but the music

cascades of colour
slip right through your hands
your castle's in the clouds
turn back into sand
you'll find your swept away with no helping hand
the music is your beacon back to dry land

and at sunrise
and at sunset
but when night falls
but the music

cascades of colour
slip right through your hands
your castle's in the clouds
turn back into sand
you'll find your swept away with no helping hand
the music is your beacon back to dry land
oh the music
now this is why I sing
oh the music...

my sunrise...

'Cascades of Colour' - Ananda Project (2000)

Music that I'm old enough to grove to, but young enough to still get up and dance to when the feeling hits me.  House music for the chill at heart, but still funky at mind.  Like most house music, it has a positive message and a driving beat to keep you in the element of life.  Enjoy your own vision.

I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun

(maximize your experience, listen to song /video at the bottom of the page while reading the lyrics)

I am the white side of the sun
Follow the beat across the light
Father of the one
I am the black gold of the sun
I am the black gold of the sun
I am the the dark side of the sun
Shadows that light up the day
Darkness shadow all the way
I am the black gold of the sun
I am the black gold of the sun

I am the light
I am the fire that brings around the sun
And set you free
So free (so free)

I am the black gold of the sun

To be who I wanna be
To go where I wanna go
To be
To feel

I am the black gold of the sun
I am the black gold of the sun

I am the black gold of the sun
I am the black gold of the sun

I am the white side of the sun
I am the black gold of the sun

I am the black gold of

I am the black gold of

I am the black gold of
I am the black gold of the sun
I am the black gold of
I am the black gold of
I am the black gold of the sun
I am the black gold of the sun
I am the black gold of the sun

Original Song: Rotary Connection - "I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun (1971)

I do not own the rights to this song, the music, nor the video.  It is an expression of my feelings and a I use it as a positive affirmation that reassures the positive image of who I am.
Knowing who I am confirms that fact that 'I Am'.

-The Feeling of Nudity-

The feeling of nudity
is nothing new to me
it sets my spirit free
tall, dark Mahogany

I respect my liberty
My chance to actually
with hold my energy
and revisit my history

I'm no ones property
I say that literally
don't even belong to me
I'm only here physically

A part of my mystery
is I claim the victory
don't trust the trickery
I'm not in that industry

So here's to my family
the legend ancestry
My parents delivery
now my creativity

 Realness Illness

I suffer from an illness,
called realness
So breathe deep.
Relax, and you can feel this
I'll pour it out slow.
Don't spill this.
Recall bullet points or make a checklist.

Understand, I am fearless,
but hear this
I massage the epidermis,
like a soul kiss
Got my hand in the air,
pumpin' my fist
the black panther,
I recall, likes to reminisce.

The snakes are all around,
Hiss...hiss...hiss
An urge they can't resist,
like when I take a piss
Had to learn this,
it's on the syllabus
The curriculum requires
me to study Chris.

I suffer from an illness,
called realness
So bite down.
Chew, and you can taste this
I served it up raw.
Never resist.
Review bullet points and make a checklist.

'Realness Illness'
Christopher 10/2016

I felt an urge to write a poem that focused inward.  After realizing that my fear of showing my unique personality to others was part of my greatest strength.  I realize that what I called a 'fear' is actually an unwillingness to subject myself to unwanted scrutiny and judgement from others that lack empathy. It's also a major reason why I lean towards calling myself an introvert.

Knowing that being 'real' is far from an illness, I used that word to describe my attitude towards my short measure for Bull Shit, Lies, and Game Players.  It's treated like its an illness when I practice it because the ones that I get to address with realness (negative and/or shady folks) are the ones that disappear like I'm contagious. Well I am contagious...I also have allergies... allergic to 'Falseness'. Life is so much more simple and easy when things are confronted and addressed in a simplistic and basic manner. Need something from me, ASK.  Miss me, CALL or VISIT. Got something to say, SAY IT. Why complicate things?

Being real with yourself and others is probably one of the best psychologically and emotionally detoxifying acts that you can easily practice to avoid stagnation and onset of many physical illnesses. There should never be a reason to add weight to your daily load simply because of self created obstacles that will eventually surface anyway, but usually with added problems.

Self preservation is a multi-vitamin that keeps on giving.  Real talk.

Healthfully Yours,
Christopher :)

My Aura

Write about me and the aura that you see
but make sure it captures my full personality

Could it be infrared
ultraviolet
something unseen
blue
red
or a color in between

First gather all you can on what makes me tick
then think of black, or brown
where the opacity is thick

Then go from there, to the color of my hair
the shine in my eyes and the way that they stare
for those that dare
it's beyond compare
the questions not how
or why ...but where?

Write about my smile
write about my style
write about the God in me
something worthwhile

Write about me and the aura that you see
please don't forget to use the word mahogany

A deep shade of handsome with complexity
and undertones of integrity
higher than a basic mentality
oh well...
enough about me

Its not about the blackness of my skin
but the substance of content deep within.

Behind the poem
This poem was written by me in 2000

Routine day, Washington, DC, 2000 riding the metro 7-o-clock in the morning on my way to work for the largest hospital group in DC... DC General Hospital, Medicaid Division.  My co-worker expressed herself with a pad and pen in hand constantly and spoke with poise and metaphors that reinforced an essence of majesty and royalty within the black culture.  She wore her wavy black hair sporadically braided that laced against the sides of her face into fuzzy nests of silk.  Sometimes adorned with a real wild flower or an antique piece of jewelry of her distant kin.  I had known her and her family for at least 10 years.  She had a style of her own. Her name was Lisa, she lived poetry.
On this day, I remembered a poem that she recited out loud on the subway.  Within the poem, I recall words that colored my morning to have me feel like I was more than a passenger on a train, on my way to work.  I began to feel like I am a vital part of everything in this life.  She stood there in the middle of the aisles, armed with only words.  Words that floated out of her mouth with deeper meaning.  Words that blended together so well that every set of ears on the train was listening with the content of motherly advice.
I felt so in tune and captivated with her impromptu performance, the articulation of her wording, the raspy crispness of her voice, and her gentle yet aggressive approach to the unknown public.  I love words, and she reminded me of the pleasure to use them artistically.  At the last stop on our morning commute, before we separated into our own morning rituals and off into our offices, I asked her to 'write about me and the aura that you see.'
I pressed record on my cellular flip phone, recorded those few words and didn't stop talking until this poem was written.  It wrote itself.
